DATE: 2/22/05
TIME: approximately 10:30
Counselors involved: Linda Palm, Elizabeth Keane, and Kathy
Mom: Victoria
Dad: Joe
Due Date: Unknown, about 4 weeks pregnant
Description: I was just about to leave the clinic, when Linda pointed
out a car that went into the gas station. On my way back to the car, I
went to the gas station and motioned to the people in the car to open
their window. Victoria rolled down the window and asked where they
should park for the clinic. I asked her to go over to the sidewalk so
that we could talk. Instead, they turned left and parked down the side
street. I went over to talk with them. Victoria listened for a while,
and then said that they were there for someone else and that she didn't have
any more time to talk. I offered literature, and then turned to leave. I
then spent some time talking with a man who stopped to ask “what I was
selling.” When I turned to leave that conversation, I saw Victoria and
Joe walking through the gas station property. I went in front of the
clinic and waited while they entered and then exited the front door.
During this time, Elizabeth called to them. Victoria would not talk with
me as she walked by, but Joe stopped for a short while. He told me he
didn't want her to have the abortion and that she was about 4 weeks
pregnant. I suggested that he ask her, as a favor to him, to take more
time to consider her options. He then followed Victoria down the
driveway to the back door.
I went to update the other counselors in case Joe and/or Victoria came
back out. I then noticed them leaving. I ran over to offer assistance.
Joe stated, “we're not going to do it.” I offered Victoria assistance
and my name and number. I asked if I could call her; she gave me her
name, number, and address.
Further Information: I called Victoria that evening. She indicated that
they had definitely decided not to abort. However, she sounded in great
distress. She is 21 years old and has a 1 year old and a 2 year old at
home. She stated that her finances are strained. She said she's always
wanted 3 children, just not so close together. She works as a bus aide 5
days a week. She stated she needs a crib. I offered to meet w/her and
talk about anything else she needs. We agreed to go to lunch next
Friday.

Counselor Sharon Murphy reported a woman left the clinic Friday February
1. As she left the clinic she turned to Sharon and said I have decided to
keep my baby. She was followed shortly after by a second woman who said
she also would keep her baby. Neither woman wanted or needed help. One of
the women returned to the clinic latter on that day. We have no way of
knowing why or what transpired inside.
